The 16 Hours

Once every 16 hours, an American woman is fatally shot by a current or former intimate partner.

Even though the statistics show that women are victims of gun violence, they tend to give less attention to gun violence than other feminist issues.

By changing the famous clock in Grand Central Station in New York to have 16 hours instead of 12 hours, we wanted to bring out the fact that every time the clock goes around it means that a woman has been shot.

There will be a place to sign a petition to change the law by forbidding people with domestic violence history to own a gun. Next to the clock, there will be a slogan saying “Spend your 16 seconds to sign the pledge and change the clock.”
